Hannah Ambler, Mental Health Therapist

Hannah began working as a Certified Behavior Interventionist at the onset of her career, which is how she began her journey in the realm of mental health. She then became a Registered Psychiatric Nurse so that she could expand her knowledge and abilities to assist individuals at a greater capacity. In this regard, Hannah’s nursing background provides her with a deepened understanding of pharmacotherapy and pathophysiology, in addition to her having developed various therapeutic skills through her engagement in the psychiatric nursing program. She now has nearly ten years of experience working with individuals of all ages with a variety of different mental health challenges. Hannah provides supportive and maintenance therapy through programs such as NIHB/IRS/MMIW/IDS. Being of Indigenous heritage herself, she has found immense healing through reconnection with her roots and hopes to be able to encourage others to do the same. She is also very passionate about working with clients on both the Autism and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum, as well as individuals with Substance Use and Mood Disorders. Hannah encourages an exploration of the self that is non-judgemental and assists clients in finding meaning in their experiences. She also finds working with both the ego and inner child to be beneficial, and is fascinated by how nutrition and movement can play a major role in one’s mental health. In addition to her non-judgemental approach, Hannah places a major emphasis on building rapport with her clients, as she feels this is truly the foundation for success within the therapeutic process. She believes trauma is often the root of many mental health struggles, and that healing from such experiences plays an integral role in achieving optimal health and well-being. Her approach is person-centered and holistic, and she utilizes evidence- based research wherever possible. In this regard, it is important to note that Hannah is trained to provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and she is often guided by the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Model. She practices under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist, ensuring that her treatment plans are developed collaboratively, not only with the client, but with other professionals at ARCH Psychological Services. Hannah is available in Edmonton and surrounding areas to see clients of all ages in person or through Telehealth.
